INSULATION

It is estimated that 90% of homes in Canada are not insulated sufficiently.

Experts have stated that up to 40% of a home’s heat loss is related to poor attic insulation.

When insulated properly a home owner can save between 20 and 30% on monthly heating and cooling bills.

As of January 1, 2017 the provincial government has mandated a minimum value of R-60 for attic insulation that will turn into approximately 22.25 inches of insulation.

The previous building code equated to 18 inches and previous to that was 12 inches of insulation in your attic.

In most cases of 15 to 20 year old homes the 12 inches of insulation installed has settled to approximately 9 to 10 inches. Therefore you will be significantly short of the 22.25 inches required to meet today’s building standards, thus costing you 20 to 30% extra on your monthly heating and cooling bills.
